About Gary Randall – Oregon Landscape Photographer & Workshop Leader

A Lifelong Love for Photography and the Outdoors
Gary Randall is a professional landscape photographer, writer, and photography guide based near Mount Hood, Oregon. For over 20 years, he has captured the beauty of the Pacific Northwest through vivid and emotionally rich images. His journey into photography began at the age of six with a Brownie Hawkeye camera. Later, while stationed on Midway Island with the U.S. Navy, his passion for wild places and visual storytelling truly took hold.
From Craftsman to Camera
After raising a family and working in construction and carpentry, Gary turned to photography full time. His images have appeared in publications such as National Geographic, Outdoor Photographer, and Landscape Photography Magazine. In addition to his photography, Gary has earned community awards for both artistic contributions and volunteer service.
Sharing the Beauty of Oregon
Gary specializes in Oregon landscape photography. He captures dramatic skies, waterfalls, forests, and mountains across the region. He also leads private and group photography workshops and photo tours throughout Mount Hood, the Columbia River Gorge, and the Oregon Coast. His workshops focus on composition, natural light, and field techniques—and are open to all skill levels.
More Than a Photographer
In addition to teaching, Gary writes a monthly column for his local newspaper. He blends practical photo advice with personal stories from the trail. He also promotes responsible outdoor ethics and conservation.
When he’s not holding a camera, Gary enjoys exploring the backroads with his wife Darlene and their red heeler, Hazel. Whether chasing wildflowers or golden light, he’s always seeking the next beautiful moment—and happy to help others capture it too. Contact Gary today.
